Digital marketing experts previously believe that if a business is not on the internet, it does not exist because, in today’s digital age it is all about being present and active on social media platforms such as Facebook. With 2.8 million users worldwide and an average user visiting a Facebook business page at least once a week, it is a great opportunity for you to boost your brand’s awareness and generate sales by reaching a wider audience.
Creating a Facebook page alone is not enough; you need to have a focused social media marketing strategy in place too to help you achieve your business goals. Follow the six easy steps given below to create your business’s Facebook page to start your journey in the online business world:
To set-up a Facebook business page, you will need to have an account. Start by signing-up for a personal account first; if you already have one, then log in to your Facebook account. On the right-hand side at the top of your homepage, a ‘Create’ option is present, find and click on it.
From the drop-down menu, select ‘Page’ to create your Facebook business page. You will have the option between two-page categories; a “Business or Brand” or “Community or Public Figure.” Choose the category according to your business – for-profit businesses come under the first category while non-profit endeavors opt for the second one, respectively.
After choosing a category, you will need to fill out a few fields that will appear next. These include your pages name and business category. Enter a name for the page that is the same as your business, then add a category that fits your business or brand. For example, for a salon, you could enter “Local Business,” which will then give you a list of relevant options for you to choose from.
Next, Facebook will prompt you to upload a profile photo and cover photo for your page. You can use any photo that represents your business and its branding. It is recommended that you choose your brand’s logo for this purpose. Using an original photo that is 170 pixels wide by 170 pixels tall is ideal.
Your cover photo is the background of your page, so it needs to be visually appealing and representative of your brand, just like your personal account. The ideal size for this photo is at least 400 pixels wide by 150 pixels tall. If you don’t have any photos to upload, you can get them designed by a digital marketing service provider.
Next, Facebook will give you an option to invite your current friends from your account to like your new business page. It is recommended that you send the invites to provide a good initial base of followers and likes for your new business page. You can either click the pop-up option or invite friends from the ‘…’ button at the top of your business page timeline.
On the left-hand side of your Facebook page, you’ll find “About,” click on it to add additional details about your business, you can include the address of your business, your products or menu. Enter all relevant information, such as your website, business hours, contact information, and links to other social handles if present.
Facebook may be a potential customer’s first point of reference for your business as it tends to show up higher on search engine ranks, therefore ensure that all your information is complete and up-to-date.
One pro-tip is to add a vanity URL or username for your Facebook business page, same as your brand name, containing at least 50 characters. This username is used by customers to look your page up on search engines, thus making it easier to find you online.
Every Facebook page gives you an option below its cover photo to add a button to your account. It is free to use and serves as a prominent call-to-action (CTA) button. It is a great opportunity to get visitors on your page to take action, such as sending you a message or learning more about your business.
You can select from the following options: Book with you, Contact you, Learn more about your business, Shop with you, or Make a donation, or Download our app. Go ahead and select the button that is the best fit for business; for instance, select ‘Book With You’ for a spa and salon service.
Congratulations! You have successfully set-up your first-ever business page on Facebook. But, creating a page is only the first step to your business journey online. You will have to stay active and updated on recent trends to effectively market yourself and grow your business.
You can do this by staying active online, posting new and relevant content consistently, using all Facebook features for variety, adding visual appeal to your posts, and participating in groups relevant to your business.
